Wise Owl Education for children in Nursery is taught through a combination of maths and English games. The lesson focuses on developing the Early Learning Goals that your child will be aiming towards as they start Nursery and move on to Reception. Each lesson will develop their language, numeracy and play skills.

- Phonics – learning the initial letter sounds

Wise Owl Education for children in Reception is taught through a combination of maths and English activities. These classes follow on from the skills that children learnt in Nursery and supports their development as they move through Reception, preparing them for Key Stage 1. Each lesson will develop key literacy, phonics and maths skills which should be achieved by the end of Reception.
Lessons include:
MATHS
- Counting forwards to and backwards from 100
- Developing basic addition and subtraction skills
- Learning about 2D and 3D shapes
- Money activities
- Number games
ENGLISH
- Phonics – revision of the initial letter sounds and then moving on to learn the next set of two and three letter blends.
- Writing – focusing on developing children’s handwriting, word building and sentence construction.
- Reading – segmenting and blending practise with individual words and phrases
